According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the portion of renewables in the global energy mix can be doubled cost-effectively by 2030 with existing technology. This will require a boost of investments in renewables by over USD 500 billion each year up to 2020, particularly in developing countries. To achieve increased funding in this area a pipeline of investment-mature projects is needed.
The World Future Energy Summit 2016 taking place in Abu Dhabi this week is one of the world’s most influential events dedicated to advancing future energy and clean technology. One of the event’s sessions will be hosted by IRENA to demonstrate how their sustainable energy marketplace and the IRENA/ADFD Project Facility together with other funding facilities can help accelerate public and private investment into renewables. Scatec Solar’s SVP of Business Development, Terje Osmundsen, will address the event’s session concerning project development and achieving development impact.
