In Rwanda, we are running two identical solar PV projects in the community, providing electricity for the local school and health clinic next to our ASYV solar plant.
The challenge
The solar plant is adjacent to the community and leases the land from the local school. While providing benefits to the community, it was crucial to also demonstrate commitment to local value creation. The school and health centre could benefit from cost savings on electricity bills.
How we worked together
We installed two identical solar PV projects at the school and health clinic. They consist of 60 panels each (225W, 27kWp) that provide 3,300 kWh of electricity each month, or 75,000 kWh generated since its installation. The solar PV ensures that the school and health centre are not dependent on the electricity grid, save money on electricity bills yeah month, and also provides a sustainable solution to avoid CO2 emissions. And it is aligned to our core company business! A long-term project, it is maintained and monitored by our local O&M manager.
