The green hydrogen shift: Which role should Norway play globally?

Investing in green hydrogen globally and particularly in emerging markets is key to combat climate change. Finding long-term green energy solutions is vital if we are to get on track to limit global warming to only 1.5 degrees Celsius. It is about producing a strong supply of green ammonia and green hydrogen to help create energy security and a pathway to net zero.

Renewable energy presents an opportunity for countries to boost their economic growth, meet the energy needs of a growing population, improve living standards, provide a new source of employment, all while simultaneously reducing dependency on fossil fuels and eliminating the vulnerabilities that it entails. It is with this top of mind that we have set our long-term vision and ambitions to be a changemaker for societies and create clean and affordable energy where it is needed most.

Our CEO Terje Pilskog is hosting an event during Norway’s largest annual gathering of political decisions makers, industry, research and organisations – Arendalsuka – next week, where we will discuss the importance of investing in green hydrogen and ammonia projects globally and what role Norway can take in this transition and what opportunities lie ahead.

Panellists will include Norway’s Ambassador to Egypt Hilde Klemetsdal, the CEO of Norwegian Investment Fund Norfund, the Director of Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation Norad; the CEO of Eksfin, which promotes Norwegian export; as well as the CEO of Yara Clean Ammonia and the Secretary General of the Norwegian Hydrogen Forum.
