Love.futbol Project (phase 2)

In 2022, Scatec continued our partnership with NGO love.futbol to offer extracurricular activities such as sports and cultural classes for youth in Bom Sucesso.

The challenge

The community of Bom Sucesso is located only a few hundred meters away from our 162 MW Apodi site. In 2021, we worked with love.futbol and the community to develop public spaces. But building spaces is not enough – communities must feel connected to these spaces. And the community lacked access to extracurricular activities for children and youth.

How we worked together

The programme was divided into two components (Sports for Development and Educational Art Groups) and divided into four modules: Sustainable Environment, Mental & Physical Health, Art & Culture, and Culture of Peace.

Working closely with the community, the programme aims to enhance the autonomy and leadership skills of children and young people, empowering them with the skills they need to also flourish off the pitch. One of the main objectives of the programme is that the methodology and knowledge developed during the programme can be transferred to the community to create a sustainable legacy. Key pillars are access to play and community ownership.

What has been done is the real kind of incentive we expect to offer to the community. The educators, coordinators and young leaders are showing that they are not just passing through but will leave a deep legacy in the community.
